…and on two different feats to boot…

Not only did Grim ding 80 this evening, I also finally saved up enough gold in the coffers to buy him his epic flying. And wow, I’d forgotten how much faster that is over the regular flying! I was zooming through Sholazar collecting ore – I still need to gather up tomorrows Titanium for the next batch of Titansteel Bars, but that should go much quicker now. I have 5 bars in my bank right now, which (once I get a frozen orb) means I’ll be able to make the Tempered Titansteel Helm, which, as I’ve read it, will be getting a meta socket at the 3.0.8 patch.

I need to respec again to a more tank oriented build, which will mean saying farewell to my little ghoulish buddy – at least for now. Once we get dual-specs, I will most definitely be putting Master of Ghouls into my DPS build. Ah well…this is the tanking build I’m looking at right now…any thoughts, anyone?

Tanking spec looks good, though I do have one question: why Unholy Aura instead of finishing off Bladed Armor for extra threat or getting Improved Icy Touch for the extra slowing effect? I suppose the extra party mobility would be quite useful for some fights, but I’m not sure it’s enough for the two points it costs.

Nice blog by the way. I’ve been looking for a good DK blog for a while. Now when my 80 DK friend comes looking for advice, I can send him your way instead of trying to apply warrior/paladin logic to his questions.

I went back and forth on that several times, and ultimately went back to theorycrafting I had seen on EJ that indicated the Unholy Aura increased the group DPS by 500.

Our first Naxx run is scheduled for this weekend with Grim as one of the tanks, so that’ll be a good test of the viability of the build. I’m definitely not against tweaking it if it needs to be (though the coffers might cry quietly about the loss of gold).
