I really appreciate your taking the time to work through these item lists. And I especially like that you have both the tanking and DPS versions of each item. With gems. Great work!
I figured there was a need for it. I know some might not have ever seen the inside of Naxx, or not know if their gear is up to snuff, or even know where to look to find out (WoW Heroes or Be.Imba ftw, btw).

hmm good post mate but with the pvp items imo an exp i have had good damage they might be worth having a look at them for a different option for dk to get min gear in naxx but gj
As I said in the first post of the series – I don't PVP – I don't have time for it, or the interest to do it. I did it plenty in BC. Regardless, from what I know of PVP gear, while it might indeed be epics, you're usually sacrificing something in order to gain resilience. That's not worth it in my opinion.
Very nice post. Threads like this always peak my interest. The descriptions for each item are very handy in helping us decide on gear. I'm looking forward to seeing further posts. Keep up the good work.
The PvP shoulder enchant with 30 Stam and 15 Resilience (equates to about 22 Defense) and makes it the best tank shoulder enchant currently for effective health since Sons of Hodir doesn't give any stam.
I'd agree its best for a tank already over defense cap – but for a tank still working to meet that cap, the Sons of Hodir will likely be better. As their gear improves however, the PVP enchant should get the nod.
Sons of Hodir = 20 Dodge + 15 Def and the PvP enchant = 30 Stam + 22 Def (from the resilience).
I'm definitely not a math wiz either but if you lose out on the dodge but get Stam and +7 more Def than the Sons of Hodir enchant. Wouldn't it be better for those trying to get to get to the defense cap? Granted, it still depends on whether your preference is for evasion or effective health or to complement a set of each.
To be honest with you I don't know the conversion formula but I found this info from a warrior tanking website. It has a lot of good info, even if it is geared towards warriors. Here is the link to the article and there is also a calculator for all the stats, including Resilience.
According to this thread on tank spot, using the shoulder enchant in question on a level 80 (prior to patch 3.2), allows the tank to only need 536 (rather then the normal 540) defense.
Honestly, I never considered using it that way. In a mish-mash of gear, I'm swimming in defense.
I agree. My tank is the same way. I merely mentioned this because I was able to throw on this enchant and not only boost my effective health but with my current gear it allowed me to free up some of my other slots for pure stam gems. Unfortunately resil only affects our crit immune stats whereas defense increases our dodge and parry (and block for other tank classes) so using this enchant over the SoH enchant will get you to the defense cap quicker.
Hey the guide is great! I just had a question about one part….
You say we should get a Chaotic Skyfire Diamond for our meta gem socket in our helms, but you need to have at least 2 blue gems in the item for it to work. I'm using a Spiked Titansteel Helm, so I only have one blue gem socket. Am I missing something (it's possible I'm stupid )?
Meta gems (like the Chaotic Skyflare) don't require x number of gems in the helm to activate – they require x number of gems in ALL of your items in order to activate.
So you could put a blue (or green/purple) gem in your helm, and then another in any other blue/prismatic sockets you may have.

I'm not sure where you're getting your resilience equal defense math, quite frankly.

I think the formula they gave before was: 81.97 = 1% crit reduction
