Answering the Bell

Apr 05, 2009 I gear, inane, raiding, specs, theorycrafting.

It’s been a few days since I’ve had something to say, and while there has been plenty of good I could write about (such as the acquisition of the Staggering Legplates), I’ve instead spent a lot of time working on the new site design, approving graphics, and reading of the demise of several Death Knight related blogs.

It’s that last bit that concerns me the most because sites like The Scourge provided me with a lot of knowledge when I was just starting my DK. When I began, I was looking for something different from my hunter, something I could play and enjoy with no obligations or concerns. That mindless joy disappeared all too quickly when it became clear that the now-former guild expected me to be on of their main tanks when they started Naxx – and I became fixated with trying to learn a style of play that I knew little about.

Several months later, I’m still here, but playing a DK as a DPS – and enjoying it immensely. Once again, I can see so many possibilities with the class, playing oppertunties … and blogging oppertunities. Over the past few months, the content chronicled my journey from DPS to Tank and back to DPS again…but soon that will change. Several of the blogs that have left (or have tapered off their posting) were more focused on the raiding aspect of things, on gear and specs and other things I thought to be too heady for me.

As I’ve made my most recent transition though – I’ve realized that I can grasp the theorycrafting, and while I may never be one to post calculations and such (I’ll leave that to the experts at ElitestJerks.com), I will be more willing to share my thoughts on “best in slot” weapons, armor, etc.

teaser Expect to not only see more raid notes (and WWS analysis, among other things)…but to also see more things like RP and other ‘inane’ things like the memes that travel across the WoW blogosphere. I don’t need to fill just one niche…I can dance among several and still be providing a service.

To conclude this, I offer a teaser, a very small bit of an image that will be part of the new site design. Rather then identifying what it is, I’ll leave you to use your imagination and wonder…and hopefully keep checking back to find out.

woot, you are going to have more info on the site that i can arg … i mean debate … about. :)

but its always sad to see the blogosphere shrink a bit, the more people who put their opinions out there the better (even the incorrect ones, as long as they arnt too stubborn to keep on learning).

though, its probably really hard to keep a blog running, the time commitment to it is very large if you want to have many posts, so i understand people not being able to balance that with wow and real life (balancing wow/rl is hard enough as it is).

also, grats on the leggings, those didnt elude you forever i see.

Glad to see some of my fellow bloggers still feel the calling. Looking forward to continuing to read your experiences in the new patch.

@admon I’m fortunate in that I’m a single person – no significant other or children that I’m obligated to. I can spread my time between work, WoW, and blogging, and not be losing any ground in any of the 3. Not everyone can do that though, and I understand and respect that.

@Xeeon Thanks – I’m hopeful that I’ll have time to gear up Grim before 3.1 comes out, but we’ll see.

Can’t wait to see how the blog evolves, Grim. ^_^ And I’m looking forward to the new site design!

Oh, and I just happen to know what the image is… and I’m not telling! (Unless you send 500g to Lelissa or Malyss on the Aggramar-US server – then I’ll give you a hint! Maybe. :P )

    Pixelated Executioner’s last blog post..It’s a Hum-Drum Life

Ooooh…don’t make me sic the wrath of doom on you. =P

In all seriousness, thank you for the support – part of the evolution will make the twitterati more accessible, and make the blogroll expand tremendously. It should have already, but I want to do it properly (and not half-assed), so I’ve not yet launched that.
