Much fun to be had

Jan 28, 2009 I raiding, tanking.

Tonight was a fun night.

The evening started off with a run hosted by Rotten Luck for Archavon-25 man. Though Grim was the original invitee, at one point while the group was still forming and it was clear they had the tanks covered, I offered up Mal instead. As I was (and would remain) the only DK though, I was encouraged to stay, and this proved to be huge.

Ya see, right about the time that the MT engaged Archavon, the OT disconnected. I jumped, switched back into frost presence (from blood) and started laying as much threat as possible to try and climb up the threat list. Because of this, we never really skipped a beat. We lost DPS (figure 2 players worth), but at least Archavon didn’t lay the smack down until he enraged (and then several of us took a closer look at the dirt). Enough lived to take him down, and because of that, I got my first 25 man tokens. Cool beans. As an added bonus, the Deadly Gladiator’s Dreadplate Gauntlets dropped. They’re PVP, yes, but they’re also DPS, and I’m slowly but surely building up a DPS set, which is always a nice thing to have.

wowscrnshot_012709_235010Right after we did the 25 man, we did the 10 man, and took that down in short order. As fun as that was though, I had more fun when I joined a friend (and still relative WoW newcomer) in Nagrand. She’s playing her highest toon (a level 69 when we began the night) and was progressing through the last bits of the questline in Nagrand that ends with Thrall’s return and Garrosh finding his balls. We took a side trip into Crypts as part of what she needed to do, and by the time it was done, she was 70.

So here’s to you, my friend, for reminding me that there’s much fun to be had when everything is still new to you, and how tremendous epic questlines can be. I haven’t yet done many quests in Nagrand yet, but in seeing her joy, I just might. Now if I could just find the time (and other people) to bring her into Kara…

    Congrats on the gauntlets!
Nagrand was my favorite place in Outland to quest, I highly recommend it, even if it isn’t for the experience. There’s always the Talbuck.

I realized my previous post wasn’t clear (probably due to the time of day it was written!) … I have quested in Nagrand (some) on Grim, but ran through nearly all of the questlines (including the one my friend experienced the other night) on Mal. But Grim hasn’t really had a chance to grind any sort of Outlands rep, thanks to his craptacularly fast run through there on his way to Northrend.

Ah well…plently of time for that yet.

Ahhh. That does make more sense.
